Metro work: VIP Road flank in Kolkata to stay shut for 4 months from end-Nov

KOLKATA: From the end of next month, those heading to the airport late at night to catch red-eye flights over the next four months need to start early to ensure they have an additional half hour for the commute to prevent a late arrival due to the last mile bottleneck on VIP Road.

The traffic on VIP Road will be restricted for four months from the last week of November to facilitate a Metro construction work.

Consequently, a 1km stretch of the city-bound flank from the Airport Hotel crossing to Haldiram’s will remain shut between 11pm and 5am everyday till the last week of March.
