Metro 3’s Phase 1 to be launched next yr

Mumbai: The earlier MVA government—in which current CM Eknath Shinde was urban development minister—had refused to sanction the escalated cost for the Metro 3 project seeking explanations for the hike. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis attributed the escalated cost to lock estimate and cost escalations as practically no work was carried out in the last 2.5 years.

“Phase I was to be commissioned by 2021 and phase II by 2022. However, stay on the car shed impacted work. Nearly 98% of the tunnel work and 82% of the station work is complete. Around 29% of the metro car shed work is done.
