NEW DELHI: Delhi power minister Atishi on Monday said the AAP government will continue to provide electricity subsidy to frugal consumers in its current form, irrespective of their sanctioned load.
She was responding to lieutenant governor V K Saxena’s recent instructions to chief secretary to place Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (DERC) ‘statutory’ advice of October 2020, which stated that power subsidy should be extended to only those consumers who have the sanctioned power load up to 5 KW, before the council of ministers for a final decision within 15 days.
Atishi said the LG was perhaps “briefed incorrectly”, as DERC had withdrawn the statutory advice in January this year. “There is no plan to revise the subsidy scheme,” she told reporters.
