BENGALURU: The government’s promise to supply uninterrupted power across Karnataka, especially during the upcoming examination season, is likely to come at a cost: Electricity supply companies have collectively decided to purchase power to meet the surging demand during the next three months.
Besides, they have also decided against resorting to power cuts during the period in any part of the state. Contrary to the administration’s claims of surplus power, a high-level meeting of the managing directors of all Escoms on Monday resolved to purchase electricity to ensure the government’s promise of uninterrupted power supply.
In an official release, Bescom said, “All Escoms have decided against resorting to power cuts over the next three months, keeping in mind the examination season and demands by farmers’ associations.”
