KPIT Technologies launches sodium-ion battery technology

KPIT Technologies, a software integration firm focused on the automotive and mobility ecosystem, unveiled its Sodium (Na)- battery technology on Tuesday.

The technology is set to lower the cost of an electric vehicle battery by 25-30% compared to the current lithium-ion batteries, Ravi Pandit, co-founder, and chairman, KPIT, told ET. This is crucial as batteries are one of the major cost components for electric vehicles. KPIT claims that it would reduce India’s import dependency on core battery materials.
