EV four wheeler production outpaces last year’s output

The number of passenger electric vehicles (EVs) – electric cars – produced in India will likely outpace last year’s output. In the first half of the fiscal, EV production had reached 80% of FY23’s output. According to data shared by Union Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey, 49,752 passenger EVs (four wheelers) were produced from April-September 2023. Comparably, 62,279 passenger EVs were produced during the full financial year 2022-23. It is notable that passenger EV output has increased multi fold from 2021-22 production of 22,355 units.
