Kolkata: East-West Metro gets Rs 1,100 crore funds boost in 2022-23
KOLKATA: East-West Metro’s Rs 1,100 crore allocation in the 2022-23 fiscal is up by 18% compared to last year. The corridor is wrapping up now. By the last quarter of the new fiscal, the entire 16.6-km link, covering Sector V and Howrah Maidan, may be fully operational.
When that happens, a train will go under a river for the first time. For people of the city, from where the country’s first Metro had chugged out 38 years ago, zipping through Sector V-Howrah Maidan in 27 minutes flat will certainly be a fairytale. History will be made as Kolkata is linked with its twin, Howrah, through Metro.
