IRCTC received close to 6,000 complaints on food quality in first 8 months of FY23

The catering and tourism arm of railways, IRCTC, received 5,869 complaints over food quality in trains during the first eight months of the current financial year, the railway ministry informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. It added that on receipt of any complaint of food quality, “appropriate action, including levy of penalty, is taken against the service provider of IRCTC.

In response to another question on IRCTC’s earnings, the ministry said revenue had fallen from Rs 2,342.4 crore in 2019-20 to barely Rs 861.6 crore in 2020-21 because of the pandemic, but the earning increased to Rs 1,952.3 crore during the last fiscal.
