IGL gas pricing case

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) filed against the Delhi high court judgment by which the regulator’s order of fixing the prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in Delhi and adjoining areas was quashed. The apex court in its judgment of July 1, 2015 has stated that PNGRB can regulate transportation rates for “common carrier” or “contract carrier” but not for “access to city or local natural gas distribution (CGD) network.”
