Hyderabad: Cherlapalli satellite link swells to unclog Secunderabad railway
HYDERABAD: With the Secunderabad railway station facing congestion, both in terms of passengers and trains, the South Central Railway (SCR) is working on transforming Cherlapalli as a satellite station to divert some trains. The station is undergoing expansion from two platforms to nine along with creating passenger amenities such as lifts, escalators and others.
Speaking to TOI, Secunderabad divisional railway manager (DRM) Abhay Kumar Gupta explained that four additional platforms, including three pit lines, would be coming up soon.
“These pit lines will enable us to conduct maintenance of coaches. Once they are in place, the station will be capable of handling 12 additional trains at a time,” Kumar said.
