High airfares a deterrent for tourists

Alliance Air, a Central Government-owned airline, is charging an exorbitant fare of Rs 26,121 for the 85-minute Kullu to Delhi flight from the Bhuntar airport. Besides, seats can be pre-booked by paying Rs 100 to Rs 300 extra during online check-in. The airline website shows the one-way Kullu to Delhi fare of Rs 25,771 but charges Rs 350 as convenience fee for online ticket booking.

The airline is charging Rs 24,021 per seat for the 45-minute one-way flight from Kullu to Chandigarh. If a person reserves a seat, he will have to pay Rs 300 more. Moreover, tickets are not easily available during the peak tourist season or when needed at a short notice.
