Haryana’s 3 power plants ‘have coal stock for 7-10 days’

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana power utilities on Tuesday claimed to have enough stocks to run its power plants in Panipat, Yamunanagar and Hisar districts, in contrast to the situation prevailing in neighbouring Punjab. Haryana’s own supply was of 220MW from units 7 and 8 of Panipat Thermal Power Plant (PTPL) and 900MW unit each from Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant (RGTPP) Khedar, Hisar, and Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunangar. Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) officials said these four units are consuming 25,200MT of coal per day, which is roughly around six rakes a day. According to sources, one more unit of Khedar of 600 MW is likely to start functioning by month end.
