Govt clears Rs 120cr PLI for drones, parts
NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday approved a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and drone components. Union aviation minister said the scheme amount of Rs 120 crore “is double the combined turnover of all domestic drone manufacturers in FY2020-21…the journey towards becoming a global drone hub by 2030 has begun!”
Together with the liberalised drone rules enacted last month, the aviation ministry expects drone manufacturing to attract investment of over Rs 5,000 crore in the next three years, generating over 10,000 direct jobs during the period.
The government expects annual sales turnover of drone manufacturing industry could grow from Rs 60 crore in 2020-21 to over Rs 900 crore in 2023-24.
