GoAir plane hits aerobridge at Chennai airport

A GoAir flight carrying 168 passengers hit an aerobridge at the Chennai airport on Monday causing major damage to the aircraft, sources said.

All passengers and crew members onboard the flight, which was coming from Mumbai, are safe.

“The flight was hit while aligning with the aero bridge damaging the fuselage close to the front door of the aircraft” said a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) source.

The G8-305 flight was bound to Port Blair and the aircraft has been grounded, sources said.

DGCA sources said GoAir officials have reported to the regulator that the aerobridge operator was on a phone call at the time of alignments.

The incident is being investigated by the DGCA, said Chennai Airport Director.
