Flyer tweets about shabby SpiceJet plane cabin, DGCA grounds it till repairs carried out
NEW DELHI: In an unprecedented move, an airline was “ordered” to ground a plane after a passenger complained about the shabby interior with some cabin panels broken/missing and a few seats dirty or torn.
The budget airline was asked to operate it only after carrying out the required repairs in the cabin.
This possibly first of its kind action happened on Tuesday (April 19) when a passenger flying a SpiceJet Boeing 737 from Bengaluru to Guwahati took pictures of the aircraft cabin and tweeted them, tagging the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Once this B737 returned to Bengaluru, a team of regulatory officials conducted a surprise inspection of the aircraft that led to the budget airline being asked to fly the aircraft only after carrying out the required repairs.
