MUMBAI: Adani Electricity on Tuesday announced it has registered 774 FIRs for power theft cases in 2022- 23, which is an increase of 100 % over 2021-22 with 391 FIRs.
“During raids conducted by the Adani vigilance team, 72.25 tons of illegal wires were recovered, theft of 24 million units unearthed worth over Rs 38 crore,” an official said.
The aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) were brought down from 6.55 % in 2021-22 to 5.93 % in 2022-23, an official added.
Stealing electricity is a non-bailable offence. Under section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003, the offender can be punished with a fine, a jail term of up to three years, or both, once proven guilty.
