The Economic Advisory Council to the PM (EAC-PM) has suggested the government makes it mandatory for automobile manufacturers to produce electric vehicles up to a certain percentage of their production, put in mechanism to encourage leasing of vehicles instead of outright purchase and ensure greater adoption of EVs in the government fleet to enhance demand for elective vehicle cars which has remained sluggish.
