Drones get incentive to fly high
India could achieve self-sufficiency in manufacturing drones, companies said, after the government unveiled on Wednesday a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and drone components.
“The scheme at this stage for an emerging sector is a welcome move,” said Vipul Singh, cofounder and CEO of Aarav Unmanned Systems. “It has not been done for any other emerging sector. This certainly means that the government understands the criticality and the value that drones can add to our economy,” he added.
