DMRC’s 2-bottle nod, excise rules don’t match, commuters may face checks
NOIDA/GURGAON: Don’t be surprised if you have a cop or a government official asking you to show them your bag when you’re walking out of a metro station.
A mismatch between the excise policies of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) decision last week to allow a passenger to carry two sealed bottles of liquor on its network could soon lead to random checks at NCR stations.
The policy gap will create further problems in Noida because NMRC’s Aqua Line has a no-liquor rule, and its scanners will shut the liquor out for anyone who brings it in via the Blue Line.
