Direct Bengaluru-SFO flight to take wing tomorrow

BENGALURU: On Monday afternoon, Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will witness a new chapter in aviation history when the first non-stop flight from South India to the US takes off. Over 200 passengers will undertake a 17-hour journey aboard Air India’s new service from Bengaluru to San Francisco.
Sources with the national carrier said the first direct flight from KIA (AI 175) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will depart at 2.30pm with 12 cabin crew and four pilots led by Dilip Desmond and Karan R Aggarwal, who will be joined by co-pilots Madhu CV and Simranjit Singh Sambhi.
The Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with a capacity of 238 seats, including 195 in economy class, 35 in business class and eight in first class, will cover a distance of 13,993km to reach the other corner of the globe.
