Diesel prices rise to 19-month high

NEW DELHI: Diesel prices rose to their highest in 19 months and petrol to the highest since January on Friday, after oil companies raised fuel prices for the sixth time in as many days.

In Delhi, the retail selling price of diesel was Rs 72.81 per litre on Friday, highest since November 8, 2018. Petrol was retailed for Rs 74.57 per litre, highest since January 23 this year. In Mumbai, petrol and diesel were retailed for Rs 81.53 and Rs 71.48 per litre, respectively.

Oil companies raised petrol and diesel prices by 57 paise and 59 paise a litre, respectively, on Friday. Petrol and diesel prices have gone up by a cumulative Rs 3.31 and Rs 3.42 per litre, respectively, since Sunday, when oil companies started raising prices after keeping them unchanged for weeks.
