DGCA de-registers 3 SpiceJet aircraft within 5 days of request from lessor; another may be de-registered on Friday
NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday de-registered three Boeing 737s leased to SpiceJet on the request of the lessor made under provisions of Irrevocable De-registration and Export Request Authorisations (IDERA).
One more B737 with SpiceJet is likely to be de-registered on Friday, say sources. The three de-registered aircraft have been placed at Hyderabad and the Ireland-based lessor now owned by a Gulf company will fly them from there, they added.
The regulator has decided on the lessors’ within the five-day period as stipulated by IDERA that is a part of the Cape Town Convention and provides for the owner of an aircraft to get the same de-registered from the name of a third party in cases like default of lease rentals.
