Covid threat: New Delhi DM Santosh Kumar Rai reviews IGI airport readiness
New Delhi: Following the Centre’s directions to start random testing on international passengers at the airport in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases in several countries, New Delhi district magistrate Santosh Kumar Rai visited Indira Gandhi International Airport to review the preparations.
As per the guidelines, two per cent of the total passengers from the international flights have to undergo random Covid test post arrival at the airport. These travellers shall have to submit samples and shall be allowed to leave the airport after that, said officials.
Samples of the passengers testing positive shall be sent for genome testing and the copy of the positive report shall be shared with the integrated disease surveillance programme and follow-up action shall be taken.
