Co showcaused for failing to supply 700 e-double-deckers

MUMBAI: After a private bus contractor failed to honour its agreement with BEST to supply 700 electric AC double-decker buses, the undertaking on Monday issued a showcause notice threatening to blacklist the company.

“We will initiate legal action against the private company for recovery of losses. We may forfeit its deposit which comes to around Rs 3.5 crore,” said BEST general manager Vijay Singhal, adding that this will send a strong message to all ‘wet lease’ contractors not to renege on their promises on bus deliveries.
