The government has collected Rs 2.03 lakh crore in revenue from Coal India Ltd (CIL) in the last six financial years. Of the total revenue received, the maximum of Rs 44,826 crore was mopped up in 2018-19. In addition, NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) also gave Rs 4,421 crore to the government in the last six years. Thus, the government got a total of Rs 2.07 lakh crore form the two PSUs.

The state-wise coal production from the functional coal mines from 2013-14 to 2018-19 is given in. In 2018-19, the production was the highest at 728.72 MT.
