Chennai: OMR foot over-bridges aren’t for pedestrians, but for ads

CHENNAI: The seven foot over-bridges (FOBs) on OMR with advertisements might be raking in cash for the government, but have left pedestrians unhappy.

Except for the FOB that connects Thiruvanmiyur MRTS to Ramanujam Tech Park , all the others are rusty and in need of maintenance. They don’t have roofs, escalators or lifts. The light blue paint is peeling.

“During peak summer, it is too hot to climb the bridge without a roof. The metal railings become too hot to hold under the sun,” said Jeevanandam S, a pedestrian who uses the FOB in Indira Nagar.
