CBI books EPFO official, wife & 13 Jet Airways staffers for bribery

MUMBAI: The CBI has registered a corruption case against a senior security assistant official (Sr SSA) of the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), his wife and 13 employees of the grounded Jet Airways who had paid bribes for clearing their pending claims.

The senior SSA, who worked as a dealing assistant of Jet Airways, accepted nearly Rs 1.8 lakh bribe from the 13 Jet Airways employees in his wife’s account. The CBI registered the case based on a complaint by EPFO’s vigilance division against Machindra Bamne, working at EPFO’s Mumbai office, and those who allegedly paid the bribe.
