Can all of Mumbai-Pune Expressway be eight lanes in just three years?
MUMBAI: The ongoing project involves widening the Expressway from six to eight lanes between the Khalapur toll post and the Khopoli entry of the Missing Link, as well as its Lonavala exit up to the Sinhgad Institute ramp towards Pune.
But there are also plans to widen the remaining 70km stretch of the 90km Expressway. Following a similar approach, the MSRDC wants to widen four major viaducts, four tunnels, 200 culverts, four major bridges for river crossings, and two railway over bridges, in addition to the road stretches of the Expressway.
The estimated cost for these widening projects is Rs 3,000 crore.
