Biparjoy leaves 3,400 Guj villages sans electricity

No human life was lost but trees and electricity poles bore the brunt of Cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat which in turn left as many as 3400 villages without electricity.

Biparjoy affected more than 1.10 lakh electric poles, nearly 150 transmission towers and over 3000 trees. More than 3.27 lakh trees had to be trimmed even as over 1 lakh people and 73,000 animals were shifted to safety.

Power has since been restored in 1600 villages, said an official from the Gujarat Government.

At least 1,08, 208 people were evacuated and shifted in nine districts while 73,000 animals like cows and goats were shifted to safer places in the nearby districts.
