BEST smart meters’ work from March in Mumbai
MUMBAI: BEST on Tuesday announced a roadmap for installation of smart power meters in the island city, and will commence work from March.
“The meters will be installed in phases, first in housing societies, followed by shops and offices, and in the end, covering slums between Colaba and Sion/Mahim by 2024-end,” said AGM (electric supply) Nitin Herlekar. BEST has over 10.8 lakh consumers in the island city, with most being residential. It will also set up control rooms at Backbay and Mumbai Central to keep a check on the meters.
