Bengaluru: Mosque Road ROB to be rebuilt for railway track quadrupling between Cantonment and Whitefield
BENGALURU: The Mosque Road overbridge near Pulikeshinagar will soon be demolished and rebuilt as part of the Bengaluru Cantonment-KR Puram-Whitefield railway track quadrupling work (38km) undertaken by South Western Railway (SWR).
On Saturday, SWR officials along with residents and traffic police conducted a meeting on the impact of demolition of the railway overbridge (ROB) which was constructed more than 75 years ago. “The existing double railway track will be converted into four lines between Cantonment and Whitefield stations. The existing overbridge will not meet the technical requirements and has to be reconstructed to meet the standards. Rebuilding of Bengaluru East railway station is also part of this project. This work is undertaken by the Gati Shakti unit of the Bengaluru division,” said an SWR official.
“The height of the new overbridge will be raised and it will be widened with footpaths for pedestrians. No private land will be acquired for this project which is expected to be completed in eight months,” said an official.
