80% of Delhi’s fleet will be electric by 2025, says CM Arvind Kejriwal as he flags off 97 e-buses
NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday flagged off 97 electric buses, taking their total number in Delhi Transport Corporation’s fleet to 250. Another 50 are slated to be added next month.
The CM said by November 2023, Delhi would have 1,800 e-buses and by 2025, 80% of all public buses would be electric ones.
Kejriwal said Delhi government was phasing out old and polluting buses and replacing them with e-buses. “By the end of 2025, the number of buses will increase to 10,380 of which 80% (8,180) will be e-buses. The current fleet of 7,373 buses is the highest ever in Delhi,” he added.
