BDA to explore innovative financing models for PRR

BENGALURU: Rebooting the 73.5-km Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project that has been hanging fire for the last 18 years, deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday directed Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) officials to explore different innovative financial models to get the project rolling.

The PRR project, which was mooted to ease traffic flow in the tech capital, has been a non-starter after it got caught in legal wrangles related to land acquisition and cost. Over the years, the project has been one of the most beaten-to-pulp topics for the political class during discussions on improving mobility and upgrading road infrastructure in Bengaluru.
