Bengaluru: Redevelopment work at an underpass near Le Meridien, which connects Cunningham Road to Sankey Road, is nearing completion. As per BBMP, it will be the first roof-cover underpass in the city.
BBMP selected this underpass for redevelopment work to prevent waterlogging during rain. The work involves building roof covers using galvanised coloured sheets at both up and down ramps to prevent water from entering the underpass. BBMP will also install humps at both entry and exit points to prevent runoff water from entering the structure. The Palike will install fibre plastic to provide lighting during the day and put in place exhaust fans as well.
