Assaulted over steep bill, Bescom staffer left with broken tooth

BENGALURU: While the recently launched Gruha Jyothi scheme may have brought cheer to power consumers in the state, a 28-year-old Bescom meter reader last week faced a customer’s sudden ire that left him with one tooth less and three others wobbling.

Meter reader Nagaraj Naik, attached with E9 sub-division, Nagawara, was allegedly beaten black and blue by a resident of Govindapura, north Bengaluru, over what the consumer alleged was a high electricity bill.
