Aviation scam: Special court grants bail to lobbyist Deepak Talwar’s close aide

New Delhi: Special court on Friday granted bail to Yasmin Kapoor, a close aide of co-accused and corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar, in a money laundering case in connection with an aviation scam, which allegedly led to losses for Air India.

“The concern of the Investigating Agency regarding possible influence over the named witness has been taken care of as the statement of said witness has already been recorded while the accused was in judicial custody. The applicant apparently is not the main accused and was on anticipatory bail for a considerable time before she was taken in custody. The other ground that was considered against the applicant while canceling her bail was her attempts to influence the authorities in favour of Deepak Talwar in judicial custody. The applicant is willing to give an undertaking that she will not in any manner attempt to influence anyone and as such this part of adverse inference against her can be taken care of,” the court order reads.
