Airports to stop random Covid testing of int’l flyers

Mumbai: Random Covid testing of international passengers on arrival at Indian airports will stop from Thursday with the union health ministry easing the entry norms for inbound travellers to India.

Keeping with the declining trajectory of Covid-19 cases globally, the ministry issued new guidelines on Wednesday, which will come into effect from July 20. “The earlier requirements for RT-PCR based testing of a random 2 % subset of international travellers to India now stands dropped,” said the government note.

However, the precautionary measures to be followed by airlines as well as international passengers shall continue, it said.
