Air India May Get 4-6 Bidders: CAPA

CAPA, a Sydney-based consultant, sees 4-6 players having bid for national carrier Air India, its south Asia chief said Tuesday.

Kapil Kaul named Jet Airways, SpiceJet, IndiGo and Vistara apart from two non-airline parties at the CAPA India Aviation Summit 2018. He didn’t name the latter.

IndiGo has publicly shown an interest in the airline while senior executives at Tata Sons, one of the two owners of Vistara have said they may consider it.

Ajay Singh, chairman SpiceJet said the airline is “too small” for Air India. He however said that “despite its many problems” Air India “is a good asset” which wouldn’t have any dearth of bidders.

He also said Vistara, its two owners Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines would be better suitors for the airline.
