‘Air India aims to corner 30% of local market in 5 years’
In a clear sign of the Tata Group consolidating its airline business, Air India’s chief executive officer Campbell Wilson on Thursday said that the airline intends to capture 30% of India’s domestic aviation market in the next five years. It also plans to double its fleet size and build multiple hubs across cities to increase share in international traffic.
The strategies are part of a transformation plan ‘Vihaan’ under which the group aims to turn Air India into a profit-making airline in five years. The plan was finalised after Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran met with the top management of the airline at Delhi on Wednesday.
