AAP: SDMC plans to charge licence fee for EV stations

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday slammed the BJP-led South Delhi Municipal Corporation for a proposal of taking licence fee to set up electric vehicle charging stations.

“Today, when the licence-raj is being abolished, the south corporation and Bharatiya Janata Party are looking for avenues to mint money. People are getting irritated by this red-tapism now. The corporation is asking for a licence to set up charging stations,” said municipal election in-charge Durgesh Pathak.

In order to promote clean transport, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has passed an ambitious electric vehicle policy, which aims to promote the environment-friendly mode of transport in the national capital, where air quality is an annual problem faced by the residents.
