5,000 CuM OBR, 6,000 tonne coal supply affected

At least 6,000-tonne coal supply and 5,000 cubic meter (CuM) of overburden removal (OBR) were affected due to two separate incidents of work disturbances at the Talcher coalfields of the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) since Thursday.

Overburden removal operations at the Ananta OCP were affected on Thursday night after one Judhisthir Sahoo of Burdabanpur village unauthorisedly entered into the mine premises and forcibly damaged equipments to stop dewatering operations from the sump to the external mine area.

Besides his reported involvement in the stone-pelting on vehicles at the mine on Friday morning, Sahoo also kidnapped two MCL employees identified as Artatrana Sahoo, Design-Mech. Fitter and Dhirendra Behera, Design-Mech. Helper.
