3 probes into senior railway staffer’s death

MUMBAI: Three separate inquiries are being conducted to ascertain the cause of the mishap that led to the death of 44-year-old senior railway pointsman Kasim Shaikh at the carriage repair workshop in Lower Parel on the night of June 15. Shaikh was handling the shunting of a few coaches at the workshop when he was run over by a train.

The NM Joshi Marg police have launched an investigation, collected CCTV clips and other evidence and registered an accidental death report. While the second inquiry is being conducted by the labour department, railway authorities are also investigating the incident.
