Yamunanagar farmers decry upcoming Shamli-Ambala highway

Many farmers have called out their issues arising out of the upcoming six-lane access controlled Greenfield Shamli-Ambala highway to be constructed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.

The 110km-long highway will connect Haryana and Uttar Pradesh from Ambala near Sadhoupur via Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Karnal districts to enter Saharanpur and end at Shamli’s Thanabhawan.

The project, worth ₹3,663.8 crore, will provide alternative routes for commuters from Punjab travelling to Shamli and beyond who had to earlier travel via Karnal and will boost economic activities along the villages in both the states, the officials said.
