Windshield crack in GoFirst aircraft

A GOFIRST aircraft that took off from Delhi Wednesday afternoon for Guwahati witnessed a windshield crack, following which the pilots decided to land the plane back in Delhi. However, the crew diverted the aircraft to Jaipur because of rains and thundershowers in Delhi.

An official at aviation safety regulator DGCA said that a windshield crack could happen because of multiple reasons such as bad weather, foreign object debris, improper installation but “an outer pane crack is not considered a safety issue”. The regulator is investigating the issue.

In a statement, a GoFirst spokesperson said: “Today the aircraft operating flight no. G8-151 from Delhi to Guwahati witnessed windshield crack. Our fleet is the youngest fleet and has adequate care for the maintenance of all aircraft.”
