What changes for new FASTag users? NHAI scraps KYV, introduces 4 requirements for passes issued after 1 February

In a landmark move, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) called off the mandatory Know Your Vehicle (KYV) requirements needed for activation after the procurement of a FASTag pass. For all FASTag issuances from 1 February 2026, motorists will no longer face the ‘inconvenience and delays’ associated with KYV.

Previously, banks were required to conduct KVY verification for all vehicles issued FASTags.
