Western Coalfields asks FSA consumers not to import coal

KOLKATA: Coal consumers, other than those in the power sector, who did not buy their full quota in the quarter to June, can lift the remaining quantity if it is available provided they promise not to import similar quantities during the year, Coal IndiaNSE 0.15 %’s subsidiary Western Coalfields said in a notice.

The Indian Captive Power Producers Association slammed the notice and said it was “strange”.

According to the notice the decision was taken at a recent Coal India functional directors’ meet for non-power consumers holding valid supply agreements with coal companies.
