Visually-challenged couple gets Rs 58L electricity bill!

An electricity bill of whopping Rs 58 lakh has come as a shocker for a Bhubaneswar family comprising a visually-impaired couple that uses mere two ceiling fans and four LED bulbs.

Prasanna Nayak and his wife reside at Panchagaon under the Airfield police limits. He had reportedly received a bill of Rs 18,845 for the month of September last year. After the intervention of the concerned authorities, he had to pay a rebated bill of Rs 9,700.

As decided by the authorities, a new electricity meter was installed at his house in December last year. However, billing has not been carried out for the consumer since then till July this year.
