Vedanta plans to invest $20 billion; eyes selloff of BPCL among others
Vedanta NSE 2.41 % group chairman Anil Agarwal has said his companies are looking to invest around $20 billion in India, possibly during the privatisation of BPCL NSE 1.32 %, Shipping Corporation NSE -2.24 % and Hindustan Copper NSE -0.04 %.
“We are evaluating BPCL, Shipping Corporation and Hindustan Copper, if it comes. If BPCL comes to us, people will be most happy since we are not going to retrench anyone. At the same time, they will have a backward integration in terms of fuel supply from Cairn NSE 0.81 %,”Agrawal told the TOI in an interview.
