Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court on Tuesday issued a notice to the state government and the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) in response to a petition filed by the National Solar Energy Federation of India. The petition challenges a few regulations governing production, particularly variation charges.

The federation has said that producers of solar and wind energy are required to give an estimate a day ahead of the production to the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC). The producers have no control over weather conditions and hence deviations from estimates are bound to occur. The federation has said that the regulations stipulate a penalty if the variation between production and the estimate is more than 7 per cent.
