Uttarkashi tunnel collapse: Rescue operations come to a halt following hurdle, drilling stopped

In a fresh hurdle for rescue operations of the 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel for the past 11 days, boring through the rubble of the collapsed tunnel was put on hold again on Thursday apparently after cracks appeared in the platform on which the drilling machine rests, reports PTI.

This came hours after operations resumed earlier in the day, following a six-hour delay to cut through an iron girder that came in the way of the auger machine late Wednesday night.
